On 17th December 2011, pianist-composer Luciana Bigazzi and guitarist-composer Maurizio Colonna, two of the foremost interpreters of new Italian instrumental music, have performed together in London . The concert, which took place at the Italian Cultural Institute, has been the most recent of the London performances by the two artists over the last few years. Thanks to the Italian Cultural Institute, and to its director Carlo Presenti who has organised a series of concerts focused on New Italian Instrumental Music, the musical event has been one of the most important of 2011 and has been welcomed enthusiastically by the audience. The performance has been recorded, resulting in the live cd “Reflections in the night – Live in London ”. The repertory is made of music composed by the two artists, at times the piano and the guitar are played in ensemble, at other times solo; there are also rearrangements of piano or guitar solo pieces. Some new executions, enriched by improvisations, are especially significant. The artistic result highlights Luciana and Maurizio’s wish to follow on the creative itinerary they have so successfully developed over the years, emotionally interacting with their ever growing and diverse audience.

Il 17 Dicembre 2011, la pianista-compositrice Luciana Bigazzi e il chitarrista-compositore Maurizio Colonna, due tra i più significativi esponenti della nuova musica strumentale italiana, si sono esibiti in duo a Londra.
Il concerto, tenuto presso la “Golden Hall” dell’ Italian Cultural Institute in London, è il più recente dei concerti londinesi tenuti negli anni precedenti dai due musicisti in solo. Grazie all’Italian Cultural Institute in London e al suo direttore, Carlo Presenti, che da anni ha organizzato una prestigiosa stagione di concerti dedicata alla “New italian instrumental music”, il momento concertistico è stato presentato come uno dei più importanti eventi musicali del 2011 ed è stato accolto con entusiasmo dal pubblico londinese. La serata è stata interamente registrata e da essa nasce il live “Reflections in the night – Live in London”. Il repertorio è costituito da musiche composte dai due artisti, con spazi in cui il pianoforte e la chitarra dialogano insieme, e da momenti solistici; sono presenti anche nuove versioni di brani scritti in precedenza per il solo pianoforte o la chitarra. Significative sono alcune prime esecuzioni assolute, arricchite da sezioni di improvvisazione. Il risultato artistico evidenzia la volontà di Luciana e Maurizio di continuare un percorso creativo sviluppato negli anni con successo, caratterizzato dalla necessità di interagire emozionalmente con il loro pubblico, che diventa sempre più grande ed eterogeneo.
